How do solar panels work?

Each Solar Panel is made up of small Photovoltaic (PV) cells which absorb photons emitted from the sun. This generates free electricity through the photovoltaic effect for use in your home. The electricity generated can also be stored in a battery and released when you need it.

FAQ’s

Some of the most frequent questions we get asked.

Most domestic Solar Panels installations take no more than a day with minimum disruption. Typically, the scaffolding will be erected a couple of days before the Solar PV installation team arrive. We will then mount the panels on the roof and install the inverter, batteries and EV charger if ordered. Finally carrying out the internal wiring.

Solar PV panels alone will not give you electricity 24 hours a day as they only produce electricity in daylight hours. You would need a battery system as well as Solar PV panels to be able to come off-grid.

A typical residential solar panel system costs between £4,000 and £10,000 before tax credits or incentives. Costs vary based on system size, panel type, and additional components like batteries.

Solar panels are nearly maintenance-free, typically requiring only occasional cleaning and periodic inspections to ensure optimal performance. They are designed to last 25-30 years with minimal upkeep.
